Is there another world after we are dead. The Buddhist believe in it and so they would send up offerings of personal things so the dead will not want for anything in the next life
In most of our society, there are those who claim that they can talk to the dead. They can communicate with them. Some of them are the relatives of the living who come back to look after the ones that they had left behind. There are also stories that babies who are born with the veil, can see spirits( these are babies who are born with a fine skin like covering wraped around them, like a veil).

The Chinese belief that the dead just goes to another world and when they arrive there, they don't have anything. They belief that it is their duty to see that their dead has a good life, in the other world and that they have everything to make life easy for them.

Offerings of food will also be served at the graveside. All these things are done so that the spirits of the loved ones will be at peace. At Chinese New Year, Tables are laden with lots of food and offerings are made to the deceased loved ones. How poor the person, they will not offend the dead and will spend lavishly for thier offerings to the loved one.
Is there such a thing as being able to see your next resting place. I have encountered a few people who would swear that they had seen their last resting place.
One such person was my Father. He was at deaths door when he described to my mum what he was seeing. His description was of a place that was so beautiful. The green fields that stretched for miles and a bright light inviting him to walk toward it. All this he related to my mum, when he was revived after a near death episode. So is this true or is it their imagination. I seem to think that there might be some truth in this. Many such stories have come from relatives and friends whose love one had passed on. Before taking their final breath, they would tell that there was bright light at the end or that family was waiting for them on the other side.
As some people believe, the dead are around for the first eight days and then they leave. I think that that is true. When my dad passed away, I traveled up to Kualar Lumpur, where he was residing, to attend his funeral. After the burial, I returned to my aunts place and as it was late I decided to go to bed. Walking up the stairs, I suddenly felt like someone's breath and heard my name called. Being the coward that I was, I quickly ran up to bed and then related to my hubby what had happened. Explaining to me what the old folks believed, I realized that my dad had come to wish me goodbye. This is believed by all the races here. That the soul is around for the first eight days and then says a final goodbye.
Every night for eight days, family and friends would gather to pray for her soul. Food and drinks would be served to those attending. My sisterinlaw was staying there. She had two children at that time and the youngest was just a baby.
On the eight day as the prayers were going on, her baby cried and leaving the prayers she went to attend to the child. After feeding the child. She wrapped him up and put him back to sleep. She says that something made her look towards the window and that was when she saw the grandmother looking into the room. The old lady just stood there staring into the room. Then just as quietly she went out the door to the prayers. The next day she related to the others about that incident. Many such incedents are reported, so there is a possibility that they do stick around for eight days and then say their farewells and leave.
