It was a parity-filled week at the top of the standings, as four of the Tribune’s preseason top-5 teams lost a game. Cesar Chavez had the most impressive performance, defeating Chaparral in the semifinals and Desert Mountain in the title game to win the Paradise Valley Invitational. Pinnacle hasn’t played but moved up a spot to No. 2 by virtue of Dobson and Mesa losses. Red Mountain won the Salpointe Tip-Off classic and has wins against Saguaro and Nogales already to jump into the top-10 at No. 8. Brophy won the Arrowhead Desert Classic and has wins over Sierra Linda and Westview to move in at No. 9. Corona del Sol drops to No. 10 after a so-so opening week, and even though North (3-0) and Chaparral (P.V. Invitational semifinalists) had solid weeks, there is a squeeze in the top-10 right now so they drop out.
I strongly support the residents in The Lakes Golf Course Community. I am committed to support their decision to protect their neighborhood.
