Child-safety advocates are calling the deaths unprecedented. The DCF s new interim leader, Esther Jacobo, has pledged to identify weaknesses in the safety net and reset the agency. The renewed attention on DCF and child safety is vital. We urge lawmakers and advocates to focus on building a better system not simply tearing down the status quo.
