The Star’s opinion piece then moved on to Marana and its split from the good folks at Visit Tucson, officially the Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau (MTCVB). Marana collects a bed tax from the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain resort and several other properties along Interstate 10. Marana officials came up with a contribution amount that was unacceptable to the MTCVB’s board of directors. As a result, Marana is no longer a part of the MTCVB.
