While recognizing that we are seeing economic development in our community,Corona del Sol wasn’t a top-16 seed until, progress has been slow. Therefore, on March 14, I met with all five constitutional officers and asked that they present a flat budget with no planned increases for the coming year. Much to their credit, our 24 county departments and offices were able to hold the line on increases and presented a flat budget, albeit facing increased costs associated with state-unfunded mandates such as Medicaid.
An LA killer while pitching for the rival San Diego Padres earlier in his career, Peavy got another shot at the Dodgers in an interleague game and improved to 14-2 against them. His record is the best against the Dodgers of any pitcher with at least 15 decisions against them in baseball history.
Police have also announced a program in which volunteers are being recruited to patrol the streets. The volunteers will be coached to travel in pairs,if your household includes children and pets, with one person driving and the other riding shotgun with a phone, ready to call APD dispatchers and report any suspicious driving they see. The volunteers are graduates of a program called the Anchorage Citizen Police Academy. An APD press release says one of the 34 arrests made last weekend came after a volunteers tip. Last weekend there were, according to the press release, approximately 16 calls of suspicious impaired drivers and 15 more calls related to other problems and disturbances over the weekend. The release said the volunteers proved to be valuable over the weekend. It also said increased patrols dedicated to policing for dangerous driving would continue indefinitely even after that federal grant money stops after Labor Day.
"That's the beauty of our show," Gardell said. "It really is an ensemble piece. Because of that we can go anywhere. Our bench is so strong any of these characters can carry a storyline."
Always the perfectionist, Allen wishes the injury wouldnt have lingered. However, its almost 100 percent now as he prepares for the U.S. Junior Outdoor Track Field Championships beginning on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa. If he makes that team, he will try to escape for a weekend from fall football camp at Oregon to run in the Pan Am Junior Championships in Medellin,Champagne Celebrations, Columbia.
Outlook: Another half-dozen schools qualified as being snubbed out of this tournament as well (mostly from the West Valley and Tucson schools), but it was bound to happen since there were 59 schools in Div. II competing for the 16 spots. Seeding appears a bit more jumbled here as No. 16 Sunrise Mountain is significantly better than its seeding, gucci outlet, but playing at No. 1 South Mountain (whos also played a difficult schedule based on strength numbers) makes this a top matchup. The other big one to watch in the first round is Notre Dame-Campo Verde, a pair of legitimate final four contenders. Queen Creek-Cactus Shadows should be interesting, if the Bulldogs (who have a weak strength of schedule) can hang with one of the better teams in Div. II, and Tempes solid schedule give Steve Cihomskys team a legitimate shot against No. 2 Greenway even on the road. Because worthy schools were left behind and there doesnt appear to be a clear-cut favorite, this bracket is much more unpredictable. Thats usually a good thing in postseason play.
The opportunity the watch this caliber of swimming hasnt been available in the Valley since the mid-1990s when the Phoenix Aquatics Club hosted the Grand Prix, Shields said.
