Ken and Rothko��s relationship is the only element of this production that feels incomplete. It��s as though the actors were so focused on their characters�� feelings about art that they didn��t give more than a cursory acknowledgement to their feelings about each other. That doesn��t hurt the show; in a way it��s appropriate, because the characters themselves are far more focused on art than they are on relating to each other. Nevertheless, I couldn��t shake a sense of disappointment that the subtextual friendship between the two men was not realized with the same care and specificity as everything other element of the script.
