ATLANTA, Georgia---This college college football thing really isn't as difficult as everyone tries to make it seem. You come in as a 17-year-old freshman and earn the starting position at quarterback after entering the game in Week 1 with your team down double-digits and leading them to a dramatic 1-point victory. That's what Stillman College's Josh Straughan did last year, completing 7 of 12 attempts for 143 yards and two touchdowns to propel the Tigers to a 28-27 win against Central State last season. Then, reality set in.The Colton, Wa. native threw for just 98 yards and an interception the next week in his first career start, a 31-0 loss at home against Ouachita Baptis (Ark.),ranked No. 21 in the nation in the NCAA Division II polls. He completed 26 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 loss at Shaw but did so on 53 attempts and was picked off twice."The first game I was like, 'Yeah, this is what college is like',' Straughan said at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Media Day at the Perimeter Hotel. "I kind of went through the learning process. I still thought I had a pretty good year but I definitely had to get better and with experience comes maturity.Straughan went on to guide the Tigers to a winning record, whenever Superman flies, going 6-5 despite an abysmal rushing attack which placed dead last in the in the conference. He finished with 1,d. Carrie Cook,849 yards while completing 203 of 342 attempts, including 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. There were ups such as the three-game win streak, such as a satellite office or hotel ballroom., including victories against Kentucky State, Lane (Tenn.) and Benedict (S.C.) as well as two victories against Clark-Atlanta and Concordia-Selma to end the season. There were also downs such as losses to Tuskegee and Miles. Both games had huge SIAC West implications. The Tigers were shutout out against Tuskegee and scored just 13 at Miles, canada goose jacket, none of which came through the air.The Tigers lost two running backs to academic issues last season and had to air it all year. They seemed to have addressed that issue, signing Xavier Hogan and Jovantae Thurman out of the junior college ranks and picking up Division I transfer Devon Dozier from New Mexico State to make for a more balanced offensive attack."I think we got a lot of good recruits and we've got a really good receiving corps," Straughan said. "I think it's probably the most underrated receiving corps in the SIAC. We didn't have a first-team or second-team receiver (on the All-SIAC team). But I think that's going to change next year."
"Adam," the guy with the GoPro, didn't want his last name in print, fearing that Angry Surfer might look him up on Facebook and get violent in retaliation for putting the incriminating video on YouTube. (Had the Angry Surfer's board hit him during their altercation, it could have knocked him out. And that could have been deadly. He wasn't eager to experience that again, he said.) Alaska State Troopers have taken at least one report recently about a hostile surfer making threats, according to trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters.
It is important to give children a balance of activities during their break. Not only does playing with friends provide important social engagement, but it also gives parents insight into how their children learn best. Educational activities can be fun in groups too C your children enjoy both social stimulation and keep their brains buzzing.
Take a class in basic personal finance, public speaking and sales. Those are life skills that will always pay off. And dont wait for graduation to print up some personal business cards.
The contest has eight different categories and each winner in each category wins $5,000 for the charity of their choice. If they win, Sassy and the Browns' winnings would go to Happy Tails Service Dogs, the non-profit organization where they did their own training.
