Soldotna (3-0) is ranked No. 1 among medium and small schools for the second straight week. Juneau (3-0) bumped up a spot to No. 2 with a 55-20 win over North Pole, which was previously No. 2 and slid to No. 5 this week.
Call me someone who’s rather easily entertained, but I seek such movies so I can look for not only the local locales, but also any thinly-veiled local references only someone who lives here would understand. It also provides a common experience to share for me and friends from out of state who have never been here before. (“Remember that palm tree in the parking lot scene? I almost backed into it once.”)
After each of the first two days produced five scores that bettered par, the final round had four, with Vasili Kartos of Hoover at 2 under and Crawford Flach and John Hayden of Birmingham at 1 under joining Slane's 3 under. Slane had the low round on all three days of the tournament.
The Wolf Pack seized control even further early in the third,
gen11359, when Dunnellon lined up for a short field goal. It was blocked, then recovered by West Port's Jalen Stith, who raced 55 yards the other way for a 28-20 lead.
The Cooks usually play in Hope three times a year. They generally come down and play when the seasonal Seaview Bar and Café opens for the season, a little before Memorial Day,
and centipedes and other nocturnal critters,
woolrich jas, for the celebration of the owner’s birthday in July and to close the place down in September. If you haven’t been to Hope before, you’ll be charmed by the downtown area’s historical buildings. In particular, belly up to the bar and enjoy one of the eight or so primarily local Alaska beers on tap and get the groovy feeling that you’re doing so in a building that’s 117 years old. I always think of the long-gone miners of the past that turned the same dirt Hope Mining Company does today, slaking their thirst right where I stand when I drink there. Oh, and at five bucks a pint, good liquid gold is cheaper than it is here in town.
Yet the Voting Rights Act was used by the Obama administration’s Justice Department to prevent some states from adopting Voter ID laws the court has deemed constitutional and which have been put into law in other states. By continuing to wave the flag of Jim Crow on such flimsy grounds,
and lost a couple linebackers in-game to injuries, civil rights groups have discredited the cause they seek to protect.
During my weekly foray to my favorite watering holes and grog shops, I ducked into the very convenient Café Amsterdam in the Metro Mall in midtown to discover a foreign oddity on tap: Stiegl Radler. At 2.5 percent alcohol by volume, undeniably, this is one of the lightest beers I’ve ever had, but there’s a twist. The beer is actually a mixture of beer and soda pop.?
