So, why am I wasting a column by writing about myself? Well, as I hoist another locally produced craft beer and use my keyboard as a piano, sometimes it feels good to sing about myself. Can I be that proud?? I feel okay with it because I remain forever proud of writing for a paper that’s as big a part of me as it is for the folks like you that support all things local. I’ve been here for 34 years and strong oxen won’t pry me away from Alaska and especially the good beer that I hope contributes to your life and the paper you’re reading. Avondale has undergone a renaissance over the past few years, with the openings of the Parkside Caf , Avondale Brewing Company, Freshfully market and 41st Street Pub Aircraft Sales. A couple of other restaurants are expected to open in the area within the next several months, as well.
Tickets are $25 and are on sale now at the participating venues. As procrastinators have learned to their dismay, each venue has a limited allotment of tickets and many sell out as the festival approaches. The day of the party tends to have an element of a scavenger hunt, as organizers work to steer latecomers to venues that still have tickets to sell. As always, there s an extra step involved because many of the participating venues are licensed as private clubs. It s a simple online process, and details are provided on the tickets.
